New Expedia.com Logo: its a 21st century thing - I think
It is a day for Expedia webite posts. Thanks to Ciprian Morar for alerting me to the new Expedia.com logo. Gone is the softly swooshing yellow aeroplane on a bright blue background evoking happy thoughts of travel and living in the noughties. Hello to the sharp pointed rocket ship that blasts forward into the second decade of the 21st century- a world of darker hues and serious companies. No more Mr Nice Guy and next stop the moon. What would Freud say about this change? What do you think? Here is the old one.

HNY Tim.
It's interesting that the first company I thought of when I saw the new logo was travel.com.au.

Hope the link works.
All the best
@Adam - well spotted. Great comment. Thanks
Tim: I thought one of the interesting aspects of the new Expedia logo is the new tagline, "Where You Book Matters," which they use in the new TV commercials.
But, does it?
@dennis - it better or else Kayak wins!
The online intermediaries old value was customer service, product combination and price management. The new value will be recommendation and customer understanding.
Expedia had been running a large advertising campaign supporting the new branding. TVCs have been running across TV (well in New York and Pennsylvania) promoting their hotel choices and new tagline. Interestingly they were the ONLY travel company (supplier or travel agent) advertising on prime time TV that I saw last week. Usually in between a pharma and insurance ad....
@Kristi - thanks
